Wen Tao was born in Heilongjiang in 1975, and graduated from the Sculpture Department of Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts and now lives in Beijing. Committed to the creation of plausible dreams, he has been trying to find a balance between art and design through years of practice and thinking. His main works include the “Plausible” series, the “Out of Thin Air” series, and the “Nodal” series.
The “Nodal” series of stainless steel handmade furniture - with bamboo as the bone to support the frame, the wire mesh connection to achieve the function. Simple and neat, delicate and classic, standing out on its own in the hall or courtyard without outshining any other furniture. The making of it is complex, including more than 30 processes altogether, from forming the structure to surface treatment. The basic material is corrosion-resistant stainless steel; and the surface is titanium-plated, long-lasting, non-corrosive, polished, and sandblasted, with the alternative colours of gold and black.
